cosmonaut

Why do we fantasize about space as a frontier void of the laws humanity set forth upon Earth? As if by escaping the planet that groomed us we can finally free ourselves of the ideology that confines and binds our social order in unnatural ways. And yet, by discarding accepted civilization we see the resulting offenders as taboo, inhuman somehow, as if by leaving the sacred ground we’ve traded innate human existence for a delicious, perhaps dangerous freedom. In fact, could it not be seen from the counter perspective? By self-releasing ourselves from a planetary prison of expectations could we be expressing the true nature of human beings real potential? By stripping the comforts and facing the raw brutal nature of human incapabilities, could that not be the illumination that puts a beacon on the connection to each other and the cosmos often felt but difficult to explain? Thus, by rejecting the primitive impulses of our ancestors we can become the universal being evolution is pushing us toward. A being not classified, categorized, individualized. A being not held by society and it’s odd customs nor withheld against the drive to see each other as a beautiful co-op. To bloom into a cosmic creature of companionship and camaraderie.
Perhaps by losing the “humanness” we all identify with we can begin to examine the why and the what in a unbiased manner. We are all swimming through an illusion, and the water is sweet. Yet, the wild urge for air is insatiable, and at some point, we must surface for a breath or perish.
